This study with 20 adults explored adding career biographies and career narrative writing to the career interest assessment report process. Participants reported that biographies and narratives helped them identify themes to consider how their career plans fit their personal lifestyle, meaning making, and values. This study offers 1 way to incorporate narratives and story to explore the self and self‐in‐context to activate meaning‐making processes in career interest assessment reports. Until career interest assessment reports include career biographies and a process for writing career narratives, only career counselors can offer this type of service to clients.  相似文献

This study aimed to investigate whether career competencies could enhance an employee's subjective career success in terms of perceived employability and work–home balance via job crafting behaviors. Based on Job Demands‐Resources (JD‐R) Theory, we examined a potential motivational process in which career competencies, as a personal resource, would enhance career success through expansive job crafting. The results showed that job crafting mediated the positive relationship between career competencies and both internal and external perceived employability. In addition, job crafting mediated the positive relationship between career competencies and work–home enrichment. We expected a negative association between job crafting and work–home interference, yet our results indicated that career competencies are indirectly and positively related to work–home interference via job crafting. With our findings, we add to JD‐R Theory by (1) showing that career competencies may be considered a personal resource, (2) empirically examining the role of job crafting in motivational processes, and (3) showing that enhanced subjective career success can be an outcome of motivational processes. Organisations may use these findings to implement developmental HR practices aimed at increasing career competencies and job crafting.  相似文献

本研究对中国企业管理者的职业选择及其影响因素进行了考察.结果发现,社会认知职业模型基本适用于该群体:其结果预期对职业兴趣有显著影响;其管理自我效能及结果预期对职业承诺有显著影响;其社会、经济支持对职业承诺的影响不显著,但对自我职业生涯管理有显著影响;其管理自我效能及自我职业生涯管理对工作绩效有显著影响;但仍有某些变量间的路径关系未得到验证.  相似文献

基于职业成功的胜任力模型,探讨无边界职业生涯取向与青年员工职业成功的关系。采用两阶段(two-wave)问卷调查法,以385名35岁以下的年轻员工为样本进行研究。结果表明,无边界思维模式与青年员工的主观职业成功、客观职业成功均显著地正相关,职业胜任力在其中起完全中介作用;组织流动性偏好与青年员工的主观职业成功、客观职业成功均显著地负相关,职业胜任力在其中起中介作用。研究证实了无边界职业生涯取向对青年员工职业成功的“双刃剑”效应,为青年员工的职业生涯管理提供了重要启示。  相似文献

Super's theory of vocational development, initially formulated in the 1950s, has led to a number of important research programmes, focusing particularly on the concept of vocational maturity. The major findings of these studies are surveyed in this paper. They suggest that vocational maturity is a development characteristic which increases with age, is multidimensional in nature, develops at different rates in different individuals, and can help in the pre-diction of occupational satisfaction, occupational success, and career success.  相似文献

Mainstream career theories have been criticised for their scanty conceptualisation of the environment that influences individuals' careers. There are few foundations upon which to build an appropriate conceptualisation of the dramatically changing environment of career today. The implications of Pepper's contextualist world hypothesis are discussed. Compared with orthodox approaches, the world as seen from this perspective is as different as the Internet is from a library; its understanding of the environment, and indeed career, is also significantly different. The contextualist perspective upon career research, theory and practice is outlined and the possibility of its adoption in the mainstream of the career field is explored  相似文献

Dr. Margaret Bean-Bayog, a Boston psychiatrist, was sued by the Lozano family after a former patient, Paul Lozano, committed suicide. The case was widely and sensationally publicized in the newspapers and other media. A combination of inaccurate reporting, inept proceedings by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, and the threat of ruinous legal fees led Dr. Bean-Bayog to surrender her license to practice medicine. Facts that were not reported in the press were described in Dr. Maltsberger's address, delivered on April 15, 1992, at the annual AAS meeting in San Francisco. The implications for therapists attempting to treat seriously suicidal patients in the current hostile forensic climate were further discussed. The text of the address is presented here.  相似文献

Executive career counselling is relatively new. Some of its implications are examined and a three-tiered approach by organisations is advocated. Executives are verbally fluent, and this highlights the importance of the 'opening paragraph' of words they use in counselling. Neuro-linguistic programming offers a useful set of tools to the executive career counsellor. Left-handedness, probably overlooked in most types of counselling, is briefly considered. However, counselling is not only about problems, but also offers executives a welcome chance to review their lives and careers.  相似文献
