In this paper I argue that Frank Jackson’s Knowledge Argument is better considered not as an argument against physicalism, but as an argument that objective theories must be incomplete. I argue that despite the apparent diversity of responses to the knowledge argument, they all boil down to a response according to which genuine epistemic gains are made when an individual has an experience. I call this the acquaintance response. I then argue that this response violates an intuitive stricture on the objectivity of theories. Therefore, the knowledge argument does show that objective theories cannot provide a complete understanding of the world. The result, however, is that both objective dualism and objective physicalism are refuted by the argument. In the end it is suggested that the notion of “subjective physicalism” is one that should be pursued.  相似文献

Since I do not disagree with the line of argument taken by Kramer and the distinctions he draws between the different ways rules can be ‘mind-independent’, my comments focus on some of the complexities involved in the application of his distinctions. I suggest that law, properly understood as a system of rules/conventions is both existentially and observationally weakly mind independent, but nonetheless objective.

Although structural priming has been considered to be an independent cognitive process, recent evidence suggests that structural priming is modulated by sociocognitive factors such as social perception; speakers are more likely to mimic the sentence structure of a socially desirable interlocutor than the structure of a less desirable interlocutor. This study aims to further address the role of sociocognitive factors in language use by investigating how individual differences in social perception and tendency to align with others (i.e., social monitoring) modulate same‐verb structural priming. In particular, we investigate how likely students are to repeat a sentence structure of a teacher depending on their perception of the teacher and their social monitoring tendency. Our results demonstrate that students’ tendency to imitate a sentence structure of the teacher is positively influenced by their perception of the teacher but negatively by social monitoring. We suggest that the effects may be accounted for in terms of their influence on attention and memory encoding.  相似文献

Little is known about how to predict which individuals with known temperament vulnerabilities will go on to develop social anxiety problems. Adolescents (N = 185) were followed from age 13 to 18 to evaluate psychosocial, prospective predictors of social anxiety symptoms and fears of negative evaluation (FNE), after accounting for pre-existing social withdrawal symptoms. Results from structural equation modeling suggest that lack of perceived social acceptance predicts subsequent explicit social anxiety and FNE, whereas the emotional intensity of close peer interactions predicts subsequent implicit FNE. Results are discussed in terms of the importance of peer interaction in the development of social anxiety, and the value of measuring both implicit and explicit FNE.  相似文献

利用囚徒困境范式,考察了合作指数CI(0.1~0.9)与社会距离(亲密、陌生)对个体合作行为的影响。结果发现,社会距离和合作指数均会对合作行为产生影响,两者的交互效应不显著;合作率会受到合作指数的促进作用,但不会随合作指数的增高立即增长;在CI = 0.1~0.9这9个水平下,亲密被试间的合作率均显著高于陌生被试间的合作率。这一结果说明,合作指数对合作行为的促进作用存在阈值;社会距离缩小可促进个体的合作倾向增强,并更快地达到合作水平;合作指数与社会距离相互独立地影响合作行为。  相似文献

本研究通过模拟投资实验和问卷来探讨重复型公共物品困境中社会价值取向(SVO)与信息反馈方式对决策行为的影响。结果表明:(1)合作型SVO的个体比非合作型个体表现出更多的合作行为;(2)SVO与信息反馈方式的交互作用岁实验轮次越来越显著,非合作型的个体会受信息反馈方式的影响,而合作型个体则不易受反馈方式的影响;(3)与无反馈的条件相比,集体反馈倾向于促进个体的合作行为,个体反馈倾向于抑制合作行为,但反馈所造成的适应性改变使情况更为复杂。  相似文献

Culturally validated rating scales for social anxiety disorder (SAD) are of significant importance when screening for the disorder, as well as for evaluating treatment efficacy. This study examined construct validity and additional psychometric properties of two commonly used scales, the Social Phobia Scale and the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale, in a clinical SAD population (n?=?180) and in a normal population (n?=?614) in Sweden. Confirmatory factor analyses of previously reported factor solutions were tested but did not reveal acceptable fit. Exploratory factor analyses (EFA) of the joint structure of the scales in the total population yielded a two-factor model (performance anxiety and social interaction anxiety), whereas EFA in the clinical sample revealed a three-factor solution, a social interaction anxiety factor and two performance anxiety factors. The SPS and SIAS showed good to excellent internal consistency, and discriminated well between patients with SAD and a normal population sample. Both scales showed good convergent validity with an established measure of SAD, whereas the discriminant validity of symptoms of social anxiety and depression could not be confirmed. The optimal cut-off score for SPS and SIAS were 18 and 22 points, respectively. It is concluded that the factor structure and the additional psychometric properties of SPS and SIAS support the use of the scales for assessment in a Swedish population.  相似文献

采用《大学生社会性发展水平评定量表》对60名被试进行研究,区分出社会性发展良好、中等和迟滞的被试。接着采用行为实验的方式考察社会性发展水平对被试交往行为的影响,结果发现:第一,社会性发展的总体水平只对被试与女性互动对象互动的面部表情上产生影响,而社会性认知、社会性情感和社会性行为水平对被试与不同性质个体互动的某些行为上产生影响。第二,社会性发展的总体类型对被试面对不同互动对象的同一行为反应上有一定影响,但这种影响有限,仅在面部表情上表现出性别差异;而社会性认知发展类型和情感发展类型对不同互动对象的同一行为表现出有限的影响。第三,社会性发展迟滞的大学生在实验中表现出对实验任务冷漠或过度热情的现象。  相似文献

In this study of how the frequency of interaction affects decisions on reward allocation, 320 Chinese adults were randomly assigned to 8 conditions and instructed to read a scenario describing 2 co-workers completing a task and obtaining a bonus. The 8 conditions differed in the type of relationships, the frequency of past interaction between co-workers, and the possibility of future interaction. Each participant was instructed to act as the allocator and to hypothetically allocate a monetary reward to the co-worker. The results indicated that both past interaction and future interaction between the co-workers significantly influenced the allocation decision. These results also suggested that the frequency of 2 individuals' past interaction can be predictive of the closeness of their relationship.  相似文献

Youth living with HIV (YLH) experience multiple disease‐related stresses along with the same structural and developmental challenges faced by their uninfected peers; alcohol use among YLH represents a risk behavior by virtue of potential effects on youth health and increased likelihood of engaging in unprotected sex while drinking alcohol. Research aimed at better understanding the interplay of individual‐ and neighborhood‐level influences on alcohol use for YLH is needed to inform interventions. This study examined whether socioeconomic disadvantage (SED) and social support influence, independently and through interaction, alcohol use in YLH. Data from the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions (ATN) consisted of YLH across 538 neighborhoods in the United States who acquired HIV behaviorally. Neighborhood‐specific data were compiled from the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau and matched with individual‐level data from the ATN (N = 1,357) to examine effects that contribute to variation in frequency of alcohol use. Other drug use, being male, being non‐Black, and older age were associated with greater alcohol use. Higher social support was negatively associated with alcohol use frequency. A cross‐level interaction indicated that the association found between decreasing social support and increasing alcohol use frequency was weakened in areas with lower SED. 为探讨社会合作信息对距离知觉的影响,本研究通过两个实验,采用动态追逐场景,对两个追逐者之间的交互模式(或合作或单独追逐同一目标)与追逐目标的存在与否进行了操作。结果发现,相比随机运动和单独追逐,存在合作关系的两个追逐者间的距离被知觉得更远,即存在距离的扩张效应(实验1),且该效应不能由底层的物理特征所解释(实验2)。该结果揭示,社会合作信息使得知觉距离被扩张,其可帮助理解视觉的适应性机制。  相似文献

Two studies addressed the role of Black meta‐perception of acculturation attitudes on the relation between minority acculturation attitudes and their social adjustment (school achievement and perceived quality of intergroup relations). Participants in both studies were Black Lusophone adolescents living in Portugal. Study 1 (N = 140) indicated that participants' attitude regarding the host culture was positively correlated with their school achievement and to their evaluation of intergroup relations. It also indicated that participants' meta‐perception of majority attitude add to the explained variance of participants' social adjustment. Study 2 (N = 62) manipulated the perceived majority high/low support of immigrants' learning the host culture. The dependent variable (DV) was perceived quality of intergroup relations. Only in the low support condition were participants' attitudes towards the host culture positively related to perceived quality of Black–White relationships. These results suggest that perceived social context is central to understand the relationship between minority adolescents' acculturation attitudes and key dimensions of their adjustment to host societies.  相似文献

社会认知复杂性是描述个体社会认知结构特点的个体差异变量,作为社会认知领域的研究热点,当前却鲜有研究关注它与同伴交往的关系。本研究选取初一至高二234名中学生考察了社会认知复杂性与同伴交往之间的关系,并辅以人际交往能力、学业成就通过结构方程模型进一步探讨了二者之间关联的路径。结果表明:(1)青少年社会认知复杂性与同伴接受、同伴拒绝、人际交往能力、学业成就之间存在显著相关。社会认知复杂性高的学生获得了较多的同伴接纳、较少的同伴拒绝,并具有较高的人际交往能力和学业成就。(2)青少年社会认知复杂性以人际交往能力和学业成就为中介变量间接影响同伴的受欢迎程度。  相似文献

Cognition theories describe the social with terms like language, interaction or culture, whose theoretical status has also been discussed in modern sociology. These concepts are not well-positioned to understand the emergence and autonomy of social orders. Sociological theory of self-referential systems can be useful to reconstruct the bottom-up process which contributes to the emergence of the social as communication as well as to describe the way in which society exerts downward causation upon cognitive phenomena. 社会规范需要被激活才能显著影响个体行为,第三方惩罚(TP)正是这样一个激活的过程。本研究将TP引入独裁者博弈(DG),社会规范被激活的被试参与了TP与DG,未激活的被试只参与了DG。结果表明,前者在TP之后显著提升了DG中的亲社会行为。进一步的分析发现,在社会规范激活过程中,社会责任感越高的个体被激活的程度越高,对违背社会规范的行为产生的愤怒情绪也越高,从而产生了更高水平的亲社会行为。在排除了实验中其他因素和相关理论的解释后,这一基本的实验结果表明社会规范激活受到社会责任感的影响并伴随着特定情绪的激发。  相似文献

自从“安然”等一系列非伦理行为事件爆发后, 如何干预非伦理行为就成为理论界和实践界共同关注的焦点。但以往的研究主要集中于探讨如何抑制单个个体的非伦理行为, 而对该行为可能产生的社会互动和蔓延机制缺乏系统探讨。本研究立足于中国特定文化背景中, 采取实验、问卷调查、案例等多种方法, 对团队内非伦理行为的社会互动及其机制进行了系统和深入的研究。本研究的内容可分为三个方面:(1)探讨个体初始化的非伦理行为是如何导致集体实施非伦理行为的, 重点研究个体社会地位和团队工作互依性的调节作用; (2)探讨集体非伦理行为对焦点个体的影响, 重点研究从众心理和道德同一性的中介机制, 以及集体主义导向和传统性的调节机制; (3)探讨上述两种非伦理行为社会影响的干预策略。本研究将深入研究团队内非伦理行为的社会互动机制, 丰富团队环境下行为伦理的研究成果, 从而为我国企业干预非伦理行为社会互动提供有效的策略和方法。  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine developmental change and the influence of shyness on social problem-solving (SPS). At 24, 36, and 48 months, children (N = 570) were observed while interacting with an unfamiliar peer during an SPS task and at 24 months, maternal report of shyness was collected. Results showed that across the full sample, children displayed low but stable levels of withdrawn SPS and increasing levels of SPS competence over development. In addition, results showed multiple trajectories of withdrawn and competent SPS. Shyness was associated with high-increasing and high-decreasing withdrawn SPS trajectories compared with the low-increasing withdrawn SPS trajectory. Shyness was also associated with the low-increasing compared with the high-increasing SPS competence trajectory. Findings demonstrate the development of SPS competence over early childhood, and the influence of early shyness on this developmental course, with some shy children showing improvement in SPS skills and others continuing to show SPS difficulties over time.  相似文献
