THE RATIONALE OF THE GUTTMAN-LINGOES NONMETRIC SERIES: A LETTER TO DOCTOR PHILIP RUNKEL

Confirmatory factor analyses of data (from five samples: N = 308 accountants and finance professionals, N = 578 management and non-management employees, and N = 588 employed management students in the U.S.; N = 728 management and non-management employees in S. Korea, N = 250 management and non-management bank employees in Bangladesh) on the 29 items of the Rahim Leader Power Inventory were performed with LISREL 7. The results provided support for the convergent and discriminant validities of the subscales measuring the five bases of leader power (coercive, reward, legitimate, expert, and referent), and the invariance of factor pattern and factor loadings across organizational levels and the three American samples. Additional analysis indicated that leader power profiles differed across the three national cultures represented in the study.

CLARIFYING THE EUTOPIA ARGUMENT: A RESPONSE TO JOHN CAIAZZA

Abstract The “eutopia” vision of the future, promulgated by technoscientists and libertarian thinkers, could herald the coming of a third axial age that could reshape and reformulate the legacy of the Great Religions and their transcendental moral imperatives, and of Modernity and the democratic imperative of equality of social conditions. A sociological diagnosis of a third, technosomatic, morality, is not a matter of supporting or rejecting such a possibility, but a matter of detecting its rise and regulating its impact.     

十年来我国儿童发展教育心理学研究的一般水平

利用“1979—1988我国儿童发展教育心理学文献数据库”,根据选定的几项有关质量的指标,分析了十年来儿童发展教育心理学研究的一般水平,发现有些方面有进步,有些方面无进展。进步最大的是统计方法,十年来取得长足进展;被试数量10年内共362665人,工作量巨大,4—16岁是研究的重点。研究方法有进步,目前研究采用的主要方法是实验法,测量法和理论分析法,测量法发展较快;从问题提出的形式看,代表较高水平的研究—深入型研究所占比例呈波浪式下降的趋势,88年下降较为明显,而重复性研究却呈上升趋势。创新型的研究虽然量不大,但有发展,值得进一步探讨;文献著录的引文量明显低于世界平均值,亦明显低于全国平均值。在引文类型上,引证图书略高于引证期刊,这与国内外科技文献引证期刊为主的调查结论不一致。引文文种以中文和英文为主。引证近5年的文献比例较低,文献更新速度较慢,且十年中没有进步。     

心理学发展状况的文献计量学研究

本文利用文献计量手段,对主要是近二十年来心理学发展中的一些情况进行了研究。本文所探讨的共分五个方面的问题,它们是: 一、二次世界大战以来心理学文献的增长情况, 二、近三十年来应用心理学研究的增加趋势, 三、二十年来心理学的研究的主要课题方面的一些变化, 四、“半衰期”与心理学文献老化年限, 五、1988年被引用得最多的影响程度高的心理学期刊。
