Validation française d'un inventaire de micro-stresseurs de la vie quotidienne: combinaison du “Daily Hassles Scale” et du “Uplifts Scale”

Ce travail présente les résultats d'une étude de validité de la version française d'un instrument d'auto-évaluation des micro-stresseurs de la vie quotidienne (“Daily Hassles Scale”; “Uplifts Scale”; Lazarus & Folkman, 1989). Les informations de validité reposent sur des structures factorielles ainsi que des analyses de cohérence interne et de convergence avec une mesure de stress psychologique (MSP: Lemyre, Tessier, & Fillion, 1990). Auprès d'une communauté universitaire (N = 265), six facteurs d'embětements quotidiens et cinq facteurs d'encouragements journaliers ont été isolés. Comme prévu, le score d'intensité aux différents facteurs d'embětements corrèle positivement et significativement avec l'état d'ětre stressé ce qui n'est pas le cas des encouragements quotidiens. La discussion soulève la nécessité d'utiliser différents groupes de micro-stresseurs plutôt qu'un facteur général. Elle évalue également le rôle ambigu des encouragements quotidiens comme facteur de protection dans l'expérience du stress.

RESPONSE TO PRESSURE FROM PEERS VERSUS ADULTS AMONG SOVIET AND AMERICAN SCHOOL CHILDREN1

Réponses d'enfants soviétiques et américains aux pressions de leurs pairs ou des adultes. Dans une étude antérieure, L'auteur et ses collègues ont attiré L'attention sur le rôle que joue le groupe des pairs dans la socialisation aux USA et en Grande-Bretagne d'une part, en URSS d'autre part. Dans les deux premiers pays, le groupe des pairs a, dans une large mesure, une action autonome, relativement indépendante des valeurs du milieu adulte et qui va quelquefois à L'encontre de ces valeurs. En Union Soviétique, le groupe des pairs est utilisé par la société des adultes comme un instrument majeur d'éducation. Ces observations ont conduit à L'hypothèse qu'en URSS, la probabilité que les enfants se trouvent confrontés à un conflit entre la pression des camarades et les valeurs des adultes. est moins grande qu'aux USA et en Angleterre; ils peuvent, en conséquence, s'identifier plus fortement avec les normes de conduite approuvées par les adultes. Cette hypothèse a été testée expérimentalement sur un échantillon de six classes américaines (N = 158) et de six classes soviétiques (N = 188), de niveau et d'âge comparables (âge moyen: 12 ans dans chaque pays). On demandait aux enfants de répondre à une série de situations conflictuelles sous trois conditions expérimentales: 1) Condition de base ou neutre: on dit aux enfants que seuls les expérimentateurs auront connaissance de leurs réponses; 2) Condition Adultes: on les informe que leurs réponses seront portées à la connaissance de leurs parents et de leurs maîtres; 3) Condition Pairs: on leur annonce que leurs réponses seront connues de leurs camarades de classe. Les situations conflictuelles consistent en une série de dilemmes hypothétiques à propos desquels on demande aux enfants ce qu'ils feraient si leurs camarades les poussaient à commettre diverses actions qui sont typiques de ce que les adultes désapprouvent (par exemple, tricher en composition, négliger ses devoirs pour aller rejoindre des copains, s'habiller d'une façon qui plait à ses amis mais non à ses parents, etc.). Dix dilemnes comparables sont présentés dans chacune des trois conditions expérimentales. Les principaux résultats sont les suivants: 1) les enfants américains ont beaucoup plus tendance que leurs homologues soviétiques à s'engager dans des actions socialement désapprouvées; 2) dans les deux pays, les garçons sont plus enclins à participer à de mauvaises actions que les filles; 3) les enfants américains et soviétiques se montrent plus prêts à se mal conduire quand leurs actions risquent d'être portées à la connaissance de leurs pairs plutôt qu'à celle des adultes; 4) la pression exercée par les camarades change les réponses qu'ont faites les enfants dans la condition neutre, mais elle opère diffèremment dans les deux pays: aux USA, elle augmente le comportement anti-social, en URSS, elle renforce L'attachement aux normes de conduite des adultes; 5) les filles sovietiques non seulement donnent les réponses les plus orientées vers les adultes, mais encore présentent des différences individuelles intra-classes exceptionnellement faibles; 6) il y a des differences significatives entre les classes dans les deux cultures, mais elles disparaissent dans la condition 2 (Adultes). L'A. trouve dans ces résultats une confirmation de L'hypothèse originale. De plus, les résultats mettent en lumière le rôle important joué par les filles, spécialement en URSS, par leur attachement aux normes de conduites approuvées par les adultes et L'appui qu'elles leur donnent. Enfin et surtout, les résultats soulignent le pouvoir qu'a le groupe des pairs d'influencer la conduite et le potentiel qu'il représente pour un développement positif et de L'enfant et de la société.
