Relationships between work values,socio-educational and work experiences,and vocational aspirations of 6th, 9th, 10th,and 12th graders

Using a cross-sectional design and canonical regression analysis, the differential relationships between work values and social, educational, and occupational experiences and aspirations were examined for boys and girls in grades 6, 9, 10, and 12. Support was found for predicted differences in work-values correlates across grades and between sexes. The experiences and aspirations studied generally correlated positively with an intrinsic value pattern for girls rather than boys. Discussion focuses on possible determinants of sex-related differences in the patterning and correlates of work values.     

Long cycles and the development of style: Painting in the 19th and 20th centuries

Well‐known epochs of style such as Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Cubism, etc. are combined with historical facts of economic long cycles. It turns out that long depressions/declines correlate with Romantic movements in style whereas long periods of prosperity coincide with realism. Basic innovations in painting do not cluster in difficult economic times. The evidence indicates almost the contrary.     

八至十世纪敦煌尼僧与世俗家庭的关系

人们通常认为尼僧作为出家人将与出家前所在世俗家庭的关系不复存在.但在8至10世纪的敦煌,情况并非这样.当时佛教极为盛行,崇佛礼佛常常成为许多家庭的重要生活内容,许多皈依佛门的尼僧与家庭仍然保持着密切的关系.孝敬父母,为他们写经造像、参与家庭事务、出家不离家,即其与家庭关系密切之表现.本文利用丰富的敦煌文献对此问题做了论证.     

17至19世纪山西官方的天主教政策

1620～1723年是天主教在山西合法传入的阶段,山西官方在此阶段对天主教的政策是允许传播,甚或支持利用.1724～1859年间,山西官方将天主教视作邪教加以严禁,但该教禁而不绝,终于在山西扎根立足.1860～1900年间,山西官方对天主教虽然被迫弛禁,但仍极力压抑;这一阶段天主教有外国强力支持,山西社会的诸多问题又为其传播提供了历史机遇,因此该教在山西传播日益广泛、初步发展起来.

二十世纪上半叶,毛泽东引领的社会变革中诞生的新道德与新政治,二者紧密结合,形成了新德治,包括新道德、新人格、新风尚。新德治是对古典德治传统的一次革命,而对于新时期的政治文化和道德建设来说,它又是直接的历史前提条件,是应该加以梳理和承接的新传统。
