The difference between the Henry “memory-drum” theory and our version is that ours includes an additional assumption that, after programming has occurred, the resultant representation can be stored in short-term memory. Otherwise, the essential ideas are the same in the two theories. Implications of the presently available data for the distinction between the theories are discussed. Regardless of how one evaluates our added assumption, it is clear that the essential insight of the Henry theory has fared very well in the 20 yr since the theory first appeared in print.  相似文献

The Hand Test, a projective device developed about 15 years ago, has gained rapidly in popularity among clinical and school psychologists. A variety of reliability and validity studies have been conducted with the instrument across a broad spectrum of clients and settings, A considerable amount of developmental work has been conducted on the Hand Test since its inception. Research on this test was reviewed and discussed with the conclusion that the Hand Test has merit in many clinical applications for children, adolescents and adults. The instrument has potential in diverse assessment situations and is used today by a wide spectrum of practitioners. Research points toward the Hand Test as being a valuable quantitative multidimensional instrument which predicts behaviors.  相似文献

Jung's two powerful articles on psychotherapy and the clergy, written in 1928 and 1932. are looked at from the vantage point of fifty years later and the author's experience in conducting analysis with many people from both vocations. He notes that relatively few people achieve the kind of integration of the ego that Jung writes about-an essentially religious experience-wherein the center of their existence now gravitates about the Self. Yet Jung's work and views have had a profound effect on spiritually inclined people of all ages. This follow-up study investigated whether attitudes toward the metric system have changed over the last 15 years. 132 subjects ranging in age from 18 to 45 years participated by filling out a 7-item survey designed to measure attitudes toward the metric system. Each survey item was scored using a 5-point rating, e.g., "the change to the metric system will create more problems than it solves," 1: strongly agree and 5: strongly disagree. Scores were compared to those obtained for a similar sample in 1983. Comparisons using t tests indicated no significant differences between attitude scores from 1983 to 1998 for either men (t64 = .95) or women (t133 = .06).  相似文献

Psychoanalysis via telephone is becoming increasingly prevalent while remaining an area of comparatively little study. The author's early telephone treatment of a series of patients living some distance away or engaged in business travel, and his subsequent telephone treatment of nine analytic and five psychotherapy patients following his own geographic move, are discussed in detail. The mechanics of beginning and carrying out such treatment are examined. The theoretical implications of the shift to the telephone and the ambivalence with which it is often met by clinicians are also explored. The role of nonverbal communication in both in-person and telephone analysis is considered, as is the concept of the analytic office as a literal space and a psychological container. Suggestions for future research are advanced.  相似文献

This article reports a retrospective view of the first 20 years of the Journal of School Psychology (JSP). The principal purpose of the review is to determine the number of contributors to JSP and their characteristics, the number and types of citations, and the most frequently referred authors, books, tests, and journals. Nine hundred and ten persons authored or coauthored one or more articles for JSP during its first 20 years. Among these 910, 764 contributed one article, and 8 contributed seven or more articles. The characteristics of these 8 persons are examined in detail in the present study. Six thousand seven hundred twenty-two separate references are cited within the 709 articles. The most frequently cited reference is Wechler's WISC and WISC-R (51). Other frequently cited tests include the PPVT (18), Bender-Gestalt (18), and WRAT (17). Caplan's The Theory and Practice of Mental Health Consultation (24) is the most frequently referenced book. JSP is the most frequently referenced journal. An examination of the total number of separate references appearing in the 709 articles reveals 65 separate references to Cowen, 43 to Dunn, 41 to Koppitz, and 40 to Caplan.  相似文献

Summary Most of Wundt's students from America came along at the peak of his career when he was Rector at Leipzig and renowned as psychology's founder. For many of them Külpe was an intermediary. Acquaintance with Wundt's work in the United States is delimited by the positions, attitudes, and selective attention to the complex details of his system on the part of the disciple who was the source of the adaptation of his work. Wundt's production in the last decades of numerous editions of the Grundriss and the Völkerpsychologie, along with the Grundzüge, received less attention and emphasis. His work in its total systematic essence tended to get overlooked or misinterpreted, especially by some of the people who had been major spokesmen for Wundt in America.  相似文献
