Basketball referees' decisions in ambiguous situations are supposed to adhere to common standards. We propose that standards can be established by video training-programs. Thirty-three German elite basketball referees participated in an online experiment. Feedback during a learning phase influenced decisions (foul vs. no call) in a subsequent test phase. These results provide a starting point for further investigations into establishing standards for referees. They suggest that establishing standards for referees' decisions in ambiguous situations may be a worthwhile approach for improving the quality of referees' decisions.  相似文献

Depersonalisation is a subjective state of unreality in which there is a feeling of estrangement, either from a sense of self or from the external environment. It can easily be overlooked by the helping professions because of its covert nature and because many people have difficulty describing it. An important aspect of psychotherapy research is the examination of the theoretical models underlying intervention approaches. Laboratory-based component research is one useful methodology for this endeavor as it provides an experimental means of testing questions related to intervention components and the change process they engage with a high level of control and precision. A meta-analysis was conducted of 66 laboratory-based component studies evaluating treatment elements and processes that are suggested by the psychological flexibility model that underlies Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (acceptance, defusion, self as context, committed action, values, and present moment), but also touches on a variety of contextual forms of cognitive behavior therapy. Significant positive effect sizes were observed for acceptance, defusion, present moment, values, mixed mindfulness components, and values plus mindfulness component conditions compared to inactive comparison conditions. Additional analyses provided further support for the psychological flexibility model, finding larger effect sizes for theoretically specified outcomes, expected differences between theoretically distinct interventions, and larger effect sizes for component conditions that included experiential methods (e.g., metaphors, exercises) than those with a rationale alone. Effect sizes did not differ between at-risk/distressed and convenience samples. Limitations with the meta-analysis and future directions for laboratory-based component research are discussed.  相似文献

Multiple codes of ethics exist for counseling professionals. This situation creates confusion for consumers and professionals and is counterproductive to the efforts of counseling to establish itself as a true profession. This article describes the relationships among ethics documents of the American Counseling Association and its divisions, national voluntary certification boards, state licensure boards, and counseling specialties; discusses problems inherent in having multiple codes; and suggests actions that might be taken toward the establishment of a single, generally accepted code that would support the goal of becoming a unified profession.  相似文献

People accept the general idea that there should be “instruction in the schools that deals with morals and moral behavior.” The program described in this article presents one possible model for moral instruction. Counselors were not involved directly in the program because of funding limitations, but counselors can use the program to stimulate moral education activities.  相似文献

The main purpose of this research is to identify the underlying cognitive structure of brand equity. Existing research on brand equity is used to identify 4 cognitive “components” of customer‐based brand equity. These are labeled as global brand attitude, strength of preference, brand knowledge, and brand heuristic. A conceptual framework of how these components (or subconstructs) are interrelated is proposed and empirically tested using data from 2 frequently purchased product categories. Covariance structure modeling is used as the analysis methodology. The results indicate that all the identified cognitive components are important determinants of customer‐based brand equity. Specifically, the brand heuristic component serves as an important mediator in 2 “cognitive chains” that link global brand attitude to brand knowledge and global brand attitude to strength of preference, respectively. The study findings have important implications for designing equity maintenance strategies for frequently purchased products.  相似文献

In this article, the author advocates for an open and specific dialogue between MFT trainees and supervisors regarding expectations for how case material is to be discussed in supervision. Guidelines for case presentation that can enhance the quality of conversations between MFT supervisors and trainees are offered. Six content areas are explored, providing a framework for discussing cases in a way that maximizes the time trainees and supervisors spend engaged in clinical conversations.  相似文献

Earlier reviews of the research have reached conflicting conclusions about the relationship between social behavior and academic achievement. A brief but comprehensive review is presented. It is suggested that there is greater consistency in this research area than has previously been noted. When the research is categorized according to sample age level, it is found among younger subjects that high achievers tend to be more socially active than low achievers, while among college-age students, low achievers tend to be the more socially active. The authors review the literature and explore common ethical dilemmas related to publishing research. Varying standards are presented to assist professionals and students in their publication endeavors. Joint research collaboration in many graduate programs is encouraged and appears inevitable. Joint research activities may involve student–faculty collaboration or professional peer collaboration. Although many helping professions have ethics codes that address publication issues, there is no standard among them regarding the issue of authorship. Although it appears necessary to follow minimal codes of ethics regarding authorship, consideration of suggested guidelines and aspirational ethics may enhance the professional growth of mental health professionals and students in mental health programs.  相似文献

As the number of dual-earner couples has increased, so has the number of dual-military couples. Individuals in dual-military couples experience many of the same challenges and benefits as dual-earner couples with added difficulties and advantages that are unique to military employment. Whereas the previous model did not adequately address the decision-making process that dual-military couples must engage in to navigate their unique situation, we address this oversight by incorporating exchanges that occur between the partners as well as between the couple and the military. Our model stresses the importance that perceived resources and the exchange relationship have on dual-military members. Included is a discussion of unique groups (i.e., gender issues, parental status, and sexual orientation), strategies for success for both dual-military couples and the military organization, and a suggested future research agenda.  相似文献

A mature counseling profession has entered the decade of the 1990s. Several factors including professionalism, accountability, health care consumerism, credentialism, and public demands for quality mental health care indicate a need for more definitive statements on standards of practice in counseling.
