Reductionism and System Theory in the Development of Medical Science

From molecular biology,genomics,proteomics to glycomics,the medical research guided by the reductionism has achieved great brilliances,at the same time the system biology,crowned as kernel driving forces for the biomedical research in the new contrary,which takes the system theory as its philosophy guide, are drawing more and more attention from the community of science. The reductionism is the bases and prerequisites for the system theory, while the system theory is the end point and termination for the reductionism.The history of the basic medical research reflects an evolution processing from the reductionism to the system theory,then to the unity of the two theories. The development of medical sciences in full of the glare of philosophy; the philosophy also makes great contribution to guide the progress of biomedical research.
