Relationship Between Rumination and Social Anxiety:Evidence from Meta-analysis

There has been a controversial debate about the relationship between rumination and social anxiety.A meta-analysis was conducted to explore the reasons for various conclusions about the relationship between rumination and social anxiety.A total of 53 independent samples from 42 studies,consisting of 23032 subjects,were involved in this study,which included 8 domestic thesis and 34 thesis in English from abroad.Our results found that the ruminant was highly correlated positively with social anxiety(r=0.42).Furthermore,the moderating effect analysis showed that the relationship between the ruminant and social anxiety was regulated by age and the ruminant and the social anxiety scales used,while not being affected by the study design or the cultural backgrounds of the samples.
