Abstract: | This paper explores personality differences relating to ZQ discrepancies on the Stanford-Binet (SB) and Goodenough-Harris (GH). One hundred six children (ages 5 to 11; 51 boys, 55 girls) were formed into three groups: relatively higher ZQ on SB, relatively higher on GH, and a “middle” reference group. SB-higher boys were rated as more vigorous, competitive, confident, and intelligent; by contrast, GH-higher boys appeared less energetic, and more shy and dependent. Girls in these groups conveyed roughly similar impressions. These data suggest that GH performance may be influenced by a personality-related cognitive style, perhaps a dimension of impulsivitycautiousness, a finding which might usefully guide interpretation of ZQ from that test. |
