Abstract: | The formation and evolution of a dislocation dipole has been recorded during an in-situ heating experiment in a transmission electron microscope (TEM) at 740°C. The formation took place by pure climb in parallel planes but no subsequent annihilation was observed. Since annihilation was only possible by glide, this situation indicates that glide in two-fold planes is a considerably more difficult process than climb, at least at high temperature. |
