| Abstract: | Pelvic inflammatory disease （PID）is referred as the infection and inflammation of the female upper genital tract. The treatment and diagnosis of PID has been challenged due to the wide spectrum of and atypical clinical manifestation. This essay discusses the recently research about the pathogenesis, risk factors, complications and sequelae, and provides a new guideline about the diagnosis and treatment of PID. |
