乾坤并建超越内在--牟宗三后期易学思想研究

Dual Emphasis on the hexagrams of Qian and Kun, coexistence of the transcendental and innate: on MOU Zong-san's thought on Yi in his old years

Mr. MOU Zong-san's views on Yi in his old years are different from those in his early years. In his old years, he stresses that Yi Zhuan contains Confucian connotations and developed the dialectical thinking mode conceived in Zhouyi, and mainly devoted himself to the two hexagrams of Qian (the 1st hexagram in the current version of Zhouyi) and Kun (the 2nd hexagram). Then he raised the principle of "dual emphasis on both Qian and Kun", by which the attribute of creativity and that of completion are concluded. The attribute of creativity was embodied by the originality of Qian within which the overall Confucian virtuous metaphysics resides, while the originality of Kun embodies the attribute of completion, which conceives Confucian virtuous cultivation and conducts. The principle of simplicity is also an important factor in the "dual emphasis on Qian and Kun', for it reveals the method of virtuous cultivation and established the importance of virtuous practice. Being the collective embodiment of Confucian metaphysics, the coexistence of the transcendental of and innate summarizes the general characteristics of Zhouyi and Confucian wisdom.
